Gene McCarron — Creator of the Marksman's Box

I'm 20 years old trapped in a 69 year old body wondering what the hell happened. I'm fine, still very active, as I've been all my life. I'm a very physical type and fairly athletic, even though I do not work out, I just keep on the move.

I'm a former Marine and I was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California. The Corps kept me on the move. They sent me to Hawaii, the Philippines, Japan and later to Kodiak, Alaska. I was a combat engineer playing with explosives, demolitions and mine field and booby trap warfare. I had a hell of a good time doing that. I was always attached to the infantry when in the field.

I went to college to become a civil engineer, but I started having kids and too many mouths to feed, so I went to work on the railroad as a brakeman in Lincoln, Nebraska. To make a long story short, I finally wound up in Wyoming which is my first love and am longing to go back. I am painfully homesick here in Iowa. It is, as they say, a very ho-hum place in comparison to Wyoming. I lived in Wyoming for over 30 years. I love to hunt and fish the streams in the mountains. I'm also a camera bug and have a Canon 35mm Rebel digital camera with a very good zoom lense. I have some fantastic wildlife photos and was published on the local front cover in the Rural Electric magazine in Wyoming. My camera bug lets me hunt year 'round.

Whenever I get the chance I shoot in long range rifle competition. I shot in a thousand yard competition using my Marksman's Box for a rest, and in one relay I shot a 5-shot, 14.83-inch group, and came in third in group and third in score out of twenty shooters on the line. My Marksman's Box sells for $95.00. The other shooters were using rests that cost $500.00, or more, so that should tell you how steady my box is. Let me tell you, 1000 yards is a 'fur piece'.

I am extremely passionate about my Marksman's Box and its capabilities in that it is a very useful, multi-purpose, device. Of course its main purpose is a rock-steady shooting support. The biggest hurdle I have overcoming is that the box severely breaks with the traditional rifle rests on the market. There is nothing else even close to its innovative design, and because of that it is difficult to get it through peoples' heads as to its capabilities. Once a person has one and uses it they fall in love with it. None of my customers has bad-mouthed it when I see them again at a gun show. They always praise it. I have sold several second box's to previous owners.
